year end consolation at least...

finally got something after many weeks of nothing... but still lamenting over the got away biggie Bara last week.. the guy slammed onto my minnow just 5m from me and make a turnaround  2o'clock dash for about 30m before leaping out of water..on near max drag on my Calcutta TE ...suddenly it seems to have given up abruptly and i was able to retreive my line quite effortless but when it saw me it make another attempt to towards the pylon at 10'oclock and before i realized it actually got itself wrap round it and broken itself free when i lost the tension of the line with my lure got embedded on the pylon wall. What a dirty player..i got owned :(

now this one below is nothin to shout about ...at least i didnt end with nothin for the year.. To all my friends out there a blessed new year with abundance of line screamer :)

the new RV03

...haha got myself a new version Abu Garcia Revo Inshore . Can't wait to test it out but then i still love my faithful 1st love(old Inshore) despite all the bruises and scars it has.. Speedwise is different though 7:1 to 6.3:1

Old and new but brothers in arms....at a glance i thought the new guy(left) is a Winch model

X2 alloy frame increases corrosion resistance.  C6 carbon side plates provide weight reduction without sacrificing strength and durability. Taken from specs, shall see how it fare on field :)

pest control

Just a sweet couple of hours getaway from city life matters alot. A 3 ft pest is quite fun on light line :)

Greedy little one without a care in the world if the lure is as big as itself

a break from fishing did wonders indeed

Never knew a break from fishing did wonders for my fishing in particular this trip... ya take a month off fishing since i injured my hand . This trip was sweet as i have not hit the water for weeks and the weather was perfect . The water was pristine surprisingly as we got shower the night before. On this particular spot that i was standing on i could see into the water and its surrounding corals within the radius of 20m.

First cast was a Yozuri Tobimaru ocean blue floatin minnow at constant  high speed crankin to test the ground...yield nothin in all cast until the 5th when something slammed into my lure and took it underneath the water and before i could react to the tension of my line with just a few cranks of the handle the fish immediately burst off with my lure. Upon retrieving the line the Alberto's knot between the main and the leader were intact but the end of the leader suggest that there could be a slippage in connection to the lure..

Next comes my Yozuri Crystal Chartreuse suspension minnow... crank,twitch,crank,twitch.. castin over the corals and retreivin across into the coral patch... ya suicide mission as the lure can get snag easily haha.. On my 2nd cast with the lure cuttin across into the coral, i saw it so clearly that a dark shadow came out of the coral and grabbed the lure and dived back in...this time i aint gonna loose it.man...maintain my line tension and slowly pumped in the guy.. :)

out of action!

well well what can i say...i got into an accident while fishing and that will have me grounded for some time. I got a nasty gash on my palm just below my thumb when i slipped and fell on the slippery rocks. Thank God i didn't break my arm as it could have been much worst as i fell on my buttock with my right hand breakin the fall  but the cut was deep to cause blood to ooze profusely and all this happened when i was all alone on a deserted spot far away from human traffic. With my right hand injured and in pain i have to start packin my gear at a greater speed with my weaker left hand. All this while i have to stay calm and i confessed i did panick initially but the peace of God was with me,thank u Lord Jesus!  Ya u may wonder how i stop my bleeding.. i used my Buff headgear to exert pressure on the wound and wrapped  tightly round it and immediately trekked  out of the spot to seek medical treatment. So never belittle this simple piece of headwear from Buff, it could save ur life so bring a few pieces with u the next time haha..

                               cleanin up the wound

                               6 stitches

All pics courtesy of my left hand which is alive and kickin through the whole surgical process :)

My apology to people who are offended by the gory pics but i guess its a good reminded to us fishoes that we should practice caution in risky places or any other places for that matter. Hope to see u guys soon. Goodbye for now :)

makeover lures

kind of disappointed with these reputed lures that yield nothin so far that i decided to give it a complete makeover with permanent maker haha...

Revo Inshore revival

Finally the Kick Lever replacement part arrived after more than a month of sourcing and waiting. This was my favourite baitcaster that i thought i would have to retire it when there were engaging/dis-engaging issues with no replacement parts to be found anywhere here. Really can't wait to hit the waters with it now, maybe my Shimano got to move aside for now haha.. look no further get in touch with the folks at mikesreelrepair for ur parts replacement order. Cheers

Stripped down

left worn out/ right new part

                                                            to be replaced

new lures arrived at the door..

Can't wait to lay my hands on these lures that i ordered from tackledirect. The Shimano Waxwing lures(surprising not available here in Singapore) are the second lot that i have ordered from online.Sad and shock to say i have lost all the 1st lot due to careless loading of the lures from casting and the used of light lines over a period of time. Expensive lesson learned indeed, this time i'll be careful though. Then there is the Bill Lewis Rat L trap which i will see how it will fair in this part of the world :)

Camo Grouper for the day

Pretty decent size hookup near the shore today...another ambusher that turn up from nowhere and slammed into my diving lure just 2 m from where i was standing.. sometimes its really pointless to cast far haha..

Coral Trout

have not wet my lines for a month...nothin to shout about but was surprised to find this so close to the shore today :)

Jacky business on a hot mid day

This guy took my lure just 3m from where i was standing on the rocks as i was retreiving my last cast and was preparing to take a break under the scorching sun. It completely took me by surprise as my rod bended and when i look down in that split second i saw a dark shadow running away and immediately my line hit the snag. It stubbornly refused to budge and i have no choice but to wait for it to come out of its hiding but maintain tension on the line. After a couple of mins i felt movement on the line and i immediately pumped and the fish was easily subdued to surface. On close examination i realised there was fray on the flurocarbon leader line..well i could have lose it :)

tryin out a new baitcaster

A new Shimano Calcutta TE 200GT which landed a todak. This reel  can really cast a mile with the correct lure weight, line weight and technique though haha..

mangrove jackin

This is a feisty one that literally got me down on hands and knees just to pluck it out of its hidings as u can see from its battered body

cuda from st john island

Caught this pest on a "cheatin" nameless  redhead deep diver lure 4 hrs into recedin tide and 45mins before the last ferry out of the island
